Paul Jeffery, Referee Development Manager at Sussex FA
Paul Jeffery is the Referee Development Manager at the Sussex FA. How are referees being trained to deal with such issues as knowing what constitutes a foul, how to deal with VAR, and identifying a dive. Paul will be relaying highlights from his career, talking about key aspects of developing referees, and answering questions about anything SOL members put to him. We anticipate a lively and interesting session given the range of refereeing issues that have arisen this season.
Venue & Format
Meetings are usually held every other month, starting at around 7pm. In "normal" times we meet in a central London pub, hosting a guest speaker with Albion connections. Previous guests have included Tony Bloom, Alan Mullery, Gordon Smith, Paul Barber and many more.
In recent times we've held online video meetings via Zoom. These meetings have been enjoyed by members and have included Q&A sessions with Albion officials and ex-players.
We also host online quizzes and post-match socials to discuss the performance of the team, the players, and the ref (not to mention VAR!).
We hope to get back to our in-person pub meetings as soon as it is safe to do so.
Seagulls Over London is the place to meet your fellow Seagulls fans and discuss all things Brighton. If you love The Albion and you live, work, or have connections within the capital then you'll get a lot from joining Seagulls Over London. It's a great place to discuss the latest Brighton news with fellow fans and representatives from the club.
There's normally a small membership fee, but we're waiving this whilst there are no in-person meetings; so to be notified of our online meetings, register now.Join Online
